The Nielsen BookData DOI® Registration Agency provides a complete service for publishers seeking to ensure the continued and effective discovery of their publications via the internet. We offer publishers a range of web-based registration and maintenance facilities for DOI Names and their metadata. Nielsen BookData is continuously improving its product range of search and discovery tools and DOIs will be included in this on-going process.
Currently we are able to capture and record metadata for the following:
- Monographic products (i.e. books and other publications which qualify for an ISBN)
- Serial publications
- Individual chapters of books and issues of serials, where they are available separately
- Learning Objects - as part of the ELEONET project, we offer a registration-facility for any item or collection of content created for teaching or learning purposes
Where appropriate we will support and if necessary, devise new, additional schemata according to your needs.
Nielsen BookData recommends that publishers provide metadata in as rich a form as possible, in order to maximise the discoverability of publications by search-tools and increase their suitability for inclusion in future services. However, if you wish to register DOI Names for items without any accompanying metadata, this may be possible, depending on what the DOI Names are to be applied to.
